Could it be St.Anthony? he would have the monk’s robes. I can’t tell from the photo if the staute has a tonsure. A nice shot!
St. Anthony is a really good guess! I’m fact, when I showed the photo to my brother-in-law, he thought it was St. Anthony as well. The only problem is in all the images I’ve seen of him, he is depicted as clean shaven. As far as I know, I don’t think the stature had a tonsure, but Its hard to Tell due to its condition. After searching the Internet, my best guess would be St. Benedict, because of the beard, monk’s robes, and the Bible he holds. The problem is this statue doesnt have any really distinguishing feature or symbol that would provide a clue to his identity.
My guess as a secular Franciscan is that it is st.francis. he is holding a cross and book of scriptures. God bless all.
It definitely could be St. Francis, although with most of the statues I’ve seen of him around here, he seems to always be depicted with either animals and birds or a human skull…
How did they shave? Broken pottery shards?
